Carlos García de Alba was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. He has a BA in Economics from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Xochimilco. He has a Masters Degree in Political Science from the University of Rome and a PhD in Sociology also from the University of Rome, Italy. He joined the Mexican Foreign Service in 1987 and was promoted to Ambassador in 2006. He was ratified by the Mexican Senate as Consul General of Mexico in Los Angeles in April 2016. He served as Executive Director for the Institute for Mexicans Abroad, (2009-2011). He served as Ambassador of Mexico to Ireland from 2011 to 2016. He was Chargé d'Affaires in the Representation of Mexico at the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development, (2006-2007). He was Consul General of Mexico in Dallas, Texas, (2004-2006) and Commercial Counselor at the Embassy of México in Italy (1989-1993). Carlos García de Alba speaks Spanish, English, Italian, and French.
